My abilities in Hebrew and Aramaic are non-existent (I simply can;t learn to read from right to left at 53 years of age - that old adage of "can't teach an old dog new tricks" comes to mind). I can manage the Koine Greek of the Septuagint and New Testament, and the Latin Vulgate of St. Jerome's translation, but only fitfully and with lots of help. I am curious, however: are you Jewish, or Christian, or a Messianic Jew? Just wondering. Thanks!
Ioannes: I luckily caught a glimpse of the e-mail notifying me of a comment. They are vanishingly rare that I never even consider looking, anymore. I am I suppose a Messianic Jew of the Yeshua Variety. Since by definition (per Rambam aka Maimonides) a Jew must look towards a Messiah and The World To Come. So, technically all Jews are Messianic, they would be shocked to learn! Rabbi Akiva is widely cited in the Talmud and was martyred by the Romans by being flayed alive. Yet, "even" he was taken-in by the false messiah Bar Kochba. Today, the Chabad Hasidim claim that the late (now several years late) and great Lubavitcher Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson was/is The Messiah. Alas he is still dead. They claim that he will not decompose. How would that be known? If you can learn Greek at 53, you can learn Hebrew as I began about 5 years ago at 53.
